Lesson #1- Making sure your video can be found

In the last lesson we saw how we can use videos as a part of our marketing
arsenal.

Today I’ll talk about how you can get your videos to rank higher and make them
easier to find.

Before you ever upload a video to the video sharing sites or even think about
creating a video, it is helpful to do some thorough keyword research in your
target market and find out what keywords are popular and what types of videos
get tons of views.

Now since youtube is the most popular video sharing site we will use it for our
research. Just like SEO, you need to optimize your videos so that they can be
easily found by people who are searching for it.

Like any search engine, visitors at http://www.YouTube.com are presented with a
search box. With basic keyword research on YouTube, you can discover what types
of videos are popular. You simply type in the main keyword for the product you
intend to market, and look at the thumbnail picture, title, keyword tags, and
view count of the videos in the search results.

The popularity of a video can be gauged  by looking at the views count and it is
important to see that there are two ways that videos results are returned: By
the title of the video and the ‘tags’ used to describe the video.

Now the key point of todays lesson is that, when you are submitting your video
make sure you enter all these tags. Also make sure that your main keyword and on
or two secondary keywords are included in the video title.

Now while this may seem like common sense, you must realize that most people who
submit videos on youtube aren’t as savvy as us, haven’t the foggiest clue about
SEO, and if you really notice even some of the popular videos have just one or
two tags which have been added like an afterthough!

So don’t forget… These 2 simple actions can make or break the popularity of
your video.

In the next lesson. I’ll teach you what kind of videos appeal to people and how
you can cash in on this…
